About us
Writer and lead vocalist Phillru van Achterbergh and lead guitarist Johan Kirsten launched Van Kose in April 2022. Van Kose is the answer to the emerging Afrikaans Rock and Roll Movement sweeping South Africa. Van Kose is the perfect festival band, capable of playing any large arena thanks to huge lyrics and even wilder sounds. With Llewellyn Annandale on bass guitar and Jaco Cilliers on drums, this four-piece band is poised for greatness. Van Kose’s major aim is entertainment, so expect them to truly Rock your Socks off. What distinguishes us is the style we developed, a contemporary Rock and Roll sound never before heard on South African soil. Nirvana, Metallica, Queens of the Stone Age, Linkin Park, Iron Maiden, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the Smashing Pumpkins provided inspiration. Van Kose always brings a good vibe and never disappoints.
Van Kose’s new single “Vermy Mei” will be released in October 2022, produced by Evert Snyman and Pariah Studios. With a few surprises concealed within the song, this song catches the imagination of our country’s youth. With insane lyrics and nasty solos, this song is sure to entertain and blow listeners’ minds.
Van Kose will also collaborate with illustrator and all-around artist Mathinus Kirtsen, who will create all of the animations for the music video for “Vermy Mei.” We will capture the imaginations of our faithful followers all around the country and globally with our unique sound and mind-blowing visuals.
